Misconceptions About Stay-At-Home-Moms [UBC Post 16]

I have been a Marketing professional for over 5 years before I had baby. So, I know what it means to be a working individual as well as a Stay-at-Home-Mom (since I am one now). There are several misconceptions or assumptions about Stay-at-Home-Moms, which may be funny or irritating depending on your mood.

Let me clear out a few at least.

  1. Very well written. There are some issues about which people seem to make very ridiculous assumptions about the choices of what they consider "the other side":

    1) Indians staying on in the west/returning to India [I am always amazed at the amount of stereotypical generalizations made about both]

    2) Stay-at-home-moms/"working" moms

    3) Couples with/without children

    4) Speaking to your children at home in English/any Indian language

But, assumptions made in (2) are particularly bizarre.
Even seasoned writers like Chetan Bhagat do this. Check out the following article:

  2. hahahaha.. put out very well Reema... and i loved the picture that you posted :) :) ..

It is very difficult for people to believe that staying at home can be out of choice but that does not mean these women are whiling away their time ...

    1. I love these memes, don't you? They are super-hilarious. Staying at home with a young kid is a fulltime job. You cannot even go to the loo in peace, let me tell you.

  4. I loved the pic you posted :-) I guess I should write now about misconceptions about Working mom..Most common one I heard is Working mom don't pay attention to their kids and don't know much about their own kids as they spend most of time outside home.. I guess road is shaky on both side :-) Doesn't matter you stay at home or go to work,,ppl will made assumptions about you

    1. Write it dear, and there you got another post idea. Everyone is battling the stereotype. I think it depends on the person one is, you can choose to be careless even if you stay at home and caring even if you go out to work.

    2. absolutely correct..it depends on one's nature..fact is whatever you are doing you should be happy with your own choice then only you can raise happy kids
